About ResortMed

ResortMed was founded by David Denton Davis MD in Vail, Colorado in 2000. Dr Davis, who is a veteran Emergency Medicine physician, identified there was a need for an alternative to the local healthcare options- the hospital emergency department and several urgent care centers.

Destination resort property managers welcomed the idea of an Emergency Physician coming to their lodge or hotel to provide routine, urgent and perhaps even emergency medical care for ill or injured guests.

As one property manager stated, "ResortMed has been able to offer on our site many of the hospital's services without the hassle. ResortMed physicians bring oxygen, pharmaceuticals, intravenous fluids, suturing materials, as well as crutches and splinting materials and devices. When these services are combined with personal, competent, convenient, confidential, comprehensive and cost effective medical care, the result is unbeatable.. As far as my guests and I are concerned the ResortMed hotel/house call has become the preferred option.

During ResortMed’s first year patients reaffirmed Dr. Davis' original premise by saying "I was too sick to go to the hospital", "I wasn't sick enough to go to the hospital", or "I had no intention of going to the hospital ER, take a number, a seat and wait." "Thank goodness for the house call service."

The following year Dr Davis added several more experienced physicians and expanded to the winter and summer resorts of Aspen, Snowmass, Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain, focusing, once again, on the needs of similar destination resort properties, second homeowners and visitors. The results have been the same.

Dr. Davis has been encouraged by some of the finer properties being served by ResortMed, as well as several individual patients he has cared for, to expand to South Florida and Southern California during 2005. During this process ResortMed will launch ResortMed Elite, an exclusive VIP medical service that will provide subscribers and their families priority care at their primary and second homes.
